Pachamama is a large private garden lodge and gated community in Santa Teresa, Costa Rica, designed for travelers who love nature, surfing and a relaxed social atmosphere. Set next to the jungle, this lush tropical property is full of trees, plants, birds and wildlife, creating a peaceful and natural environment while still being a place to connect with others.

Within Pachamama you’ll find different types of accommodations to suit different travel styles. Some units are fully private, including a comfortable 2-bedroom house and three private bungalows, ideal for couples, families or anyone seeking more privacy and independence.

Other areas make up the surf camp side of Pachamama, with a more social, hostel-style setup. This section offers four private rooms and four individual beds, rented similarly to a hostel. Guests in this area share a kitchen, bathrooms and showers (cold water), and it is perfect for backpackers, solo travelers and surfers looking to meet others.

All guests share access to the large tropical garden and a central rancho, a covered communal space where everyone can relax, hang out, read, work remotely or connect after a surf session. While some spaces are shared and others are private, everything is thoughtfully laid out within the same enclosed property.

Pachamama is fully gated, with a large wooden gate facing the main street, offering a safe and quiet place to park vehicles, walk freely, and enjoy the surroundings. It’s a place where you can be social if you want, or retreat into your own space, all while living together in harmony with nature.

The surf camp area includes the following:

rooms with fan, bed sheets and towels, fully equipped shared kitchen, shared outside bathroom with outdoor shower (cold water).

Shared space for all Pachamama Lodge guests: Outside chill-out area in our “Rancho” with sofas, chairs, dining tables, and a BBQ area next to the entrance.

Our Lodge is a 4.000 sqm tropical garden. Guest have access to all the areas and can walk around and enjoy our natural environment.

We have hammocks and chill-out areas with comfortable sofas where you can relax and enjoy the natural scenery. There´s a big ¨Rancho¨ where you can sit and have breakfast or any other meal during the day. This space is comfortable for reading, enjoying a drink or for chatting with friends.

Walking up the stairs to our Pachamama look-out spot, you will find the most stunning views over Mal País and its surrounding beaches.

This unique location is situated right in the middle of the quiet Mal País. It is 1 kilometer from downtown Santa Teresa and 1 kilometer from "Cabo Blanco" national park. Just a few steps away you will find beautiful tranquil beaches and bays with tide pools. The Pachamama Lodge is located at the most natural part of Santa Teresa destination. In our tropical garden you feel the most connected with nature. You will fall asleep to the sounds of jungle and waves and wake up to the howling of the monkeys and chirping of the birds. The beach is in max. 2 minutes walking distance and just across the street you find a nice local restaurant and another one with great views just 5 minutes away up the hill.

Pachamama Lodge has a safe onsite parking for the guests. Ordered shuttles or transports will stop just right in front of our door. Please let us know if we can help you with the booking! For excursions or the getting around town we offer bicycles, ATVs or motorbike rentals.

In Costa Rica, many places do not accept cards for payments. Think of always having some cash with you. In town there a three ATMs where you can withdraw (Banco Nacional, Banco Costa Rica, BAC).
